Rodriguez Truck Trail Overnight Trip
January 24, 2026 at 9:30 am – January 25 at 4:00 pm
Trip Description:
Rating: Moderate, with ruts and small rocks (depending on recent rains).
Route: We will head up through Julian and then down into the desert where we’ll turn off onto the S2 and then shortly after turn onto Rodriguez spur truck trail. This trail has a moderate difficulty with some erosion and small rocks but can be completed by any Land Rover with a two speed transfer case and a set of Allterain tires. After running the trail up to banner we will head back into the desert and in dispersed camping spots in little Blair Valley. There is great hiking in the area with pictographs, as well as an abandoned homestead from the 1930s. Keep in mind this is dispersed camping with no toilets or water sources so come prepared for the night. Fires are permitted, however you must bring a fire ring (I will bring a central one for the group) and wood cannot be gathered from the surroundings. Sunday more folks can head out at their own pace.
