SUMMARY:Mojave Road Overnight Trip
DESCRIPTION:Trip Description: The Mojave Road is an east-west route that traverses the desert between the Colorado River and the Mojave River near Wilmington\, Los Angeles\, CA. Most of the Mojave Road is within the boundaries of the Mojave National Preserve. Used by Indigenous people to transport goods from the southwest to trade with the Chumash and other coastal tribes\, this route later assisted American settlers on their westward expansion. \nRating: Easy\, with moderate sections we will take slowly \nRoute: We will explore sections of the road\, depending on how much time the group wants to spend travelling.  Camping will either be unimproved within the preserve\, or we’ll reserve spots at the Goffs schoolhouse campground\, which has toilets and other amenities\, in addition to a small museum Goffs Heritage Center \nTime & Place to Meet: \n\nMeet: Saturday\, October 24\, 9:00 am\, Depart: 9:30 am\nWhere: Park & Ride\, Deer Springs/Mountain Meadow exit from I-15.
