SUMMARY:Mojave Road Overnight Trip
DESCRIPTION:Trip Description: The Mojave Road is an east-west route that traverses the desert between the Colorado River and the Mojave River near Wilmington\, Los Angeles\, CA. Most of the Mojave Road is within the boundaries of the Mojave National Preserve. Used by Indigenous people to transport goods from the southwest to trade with the Chumash and other coastal tribes\, this route later assisted American settlers on their westward expansion. \nRating: Easy\, with moderate sections we will take slowly \nRoute: We will explore sections of the road\, depending on how much time the group wants to spend travelling.  Camping will either be unimproved within the preserve\, or we’ll reserve spots at the Goffs schoolhouse campground\, which has toilets and other amenities\, in addition to a small museum Goffs Heritage Center \nTime & Place to Meet: \n\nMeet: Saturday\, October 24\, 9:00 am\, Depart: 9:30 am\nWhere: Park & Ride\, Deer Springs/Mountain Meadow exit from I-15. Please arrive fueled up.\n\nWhat to bring: \n\nRequired:\n\nAll-terrain tires and full-sized spare\nAny emergency & recovery gear you may have\nAny necessary tire changing tools\, including anti-theft lug nut keys\nSufficient fuel for your vehicle\nMeals and snacks for both days.\nDrinking water (Gallon per day per person\, consider pet’s needs if applicable)\nCamping gear appropriate for primitive camping\n(1) Bundle of firewood (if camping)\nSunscreen and hat\nAmateur 2m radio with external antenna (club loaner available)\nWeather can be unpredictable – checking the National Weather Service report is recommended.\n\n\n\nDestination information: Mojave RoadFrequency: 2M: 147.580 MHzRSVP/Register: Sign up belowTrail Leader: Peter
